St. Laurent, Manitoba, Canada

Painted Sky Studio is located on Treaty 1 Territory - the original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories. WHEAT Institute acknowledges current and past injustices committed against Indigenous peoples in Canada and globally, and resulting in genocide.  We are committed to actively support Indigenous resurgence as an institute that respects, learns from and celebrates Indigenous peoples, Indigenous languages, Indigenous knowledge, and Indigenous knowledge keepers.

Otherwise, students will be responsible for booking their own lakeside accommodations outside of Painted Sky Studio. Available options will be shared by WHEAT.

A meal plan is available to all students for $40.00 CAD + tax per day. This includes three healthy, delicious, home cooked meals, beverages, and snacks. Contact us to learn more!

In Person Spring and Summer Immersions

We value the benefits of face-to-face programming and land-based experiences. This summer 2024 will be our last year offering a hybrid option where students who are unable to attend in person can elect to participate online. Starting summer 2025 we will have mandatory in person spring and summer immersions. The rest of the academic year (September - April) will remain as online classes.

Winnipeg Named A Top 10 Travel Region for 2019

Although the world may have been surprised when Manitoba was selected as the only Canadian destination on Lonely Planet's Top 10 Regions for Travel 2019, we weren't. Our province is a beautiful combination of natural wonders and rich cultural identity. From the vast fields of wheat that gave our institute its name, to The Canadian Museum of Human Rights, the gorgeous prairie skies, the Winnipeg Art Gallery (featuring the largest collection of Inuit art in the world) and our coveted status as the Slurpee Capital of the World for the 19th consecutive year, we love our province.

You may be interested in visiting Winnipeg before, during, or after one of your in person immersions at Painted Sky Studio! Check out Travel Manitoba for a full list of things to do during your stay.
